Ben came out of live sport, where the cut goes out the same night and there is no second pass. Twelve years of highlights, previews and post-match packages taught him a turnaround discipline that most longform editors never have to develop.
He now splits his time between match output and athlete documentary, and the two feed each other: the documentaries are paced like sport, and the highlights are structured like stories.
He is comfortable in graphics-heavy packaging and works cleanly with data, stats and lower-third systems without letting them crowd the picture.
Sport and fitness channels publish constantly and need someone who can cut fast without dropping standards. That is the job Ben has done every week for twelve years.
